How to Select a Fine Fur

As with any substantial purchase, you'll want to take time and care selecting the fur that may well be the most valued part of your wardrobe during the coming years.

There is no substitute for spending time at a reputable fur salon. Get acquainted with the choices and variations within each type of fur.

Tell your furrier what it is you're looking for.

Are you interested in an ultra glamorous evening jacket, or something to keep you warm on your walks to the office? Are there certain colors you desire? In what kind of weather will you be wearing your fur?

Listen to the suggestions made by your furrier, then spend time examining styles, colors and lengths.

Look closely at the fur itself. Are the pelts lustrous and beautiful? Are they well matched? Is the texture silky and the leather soft and pliable?

Check the lining. Is it silk or a silk blend? Check under the lining. A well made garment will be sewn so that the fur doesn't peek through the seams in the leather.

You'll soon find yourself drawn to particular garment time and time again. You'll know when it happens. You'll fall in love with a fur. And you'll be ready to join the exclusive ranks of the American Fur Owner.
